Instructions for Waitlisters.

1. Read the CHEM 200 Syllabus or CHEM 202 Syllabus.

2. Register for the OWL Lecture and the OWL Labs under 200/202 Waitlist by following the following instructions: How to signup for Cengage OWLv2 You will receive a free two-week trial. Do not pay for anything until you are officially registered for the course. 

3. Start with the OWL Lecture for the following assignments: (Watch Video)

  1. OWL Lecture: Getting Started with OWL 1: Working with OWL (Not Graded) — Make sure you take notes!
  2. OWL Lecture: Getting Started with OWL 1: Question Types in OWL (Not Graded) — Make sure you take notes!
  3. OWL Lecture: Getting Started with OWL 1: Where to Find Help (Not Graded)Make sure you take notes!
  4. OWL Lecture: Getting Started with OWL 1: Browser Troubleshooting (Not Graded)Make sure you take notes!
  5. Chapter 1 and 2 Problem Sets OR General Chemistry Review
  6. Chapter 3 Problem Set
  7. Chapter Assessment for Chapters 1, 2, and 3

4. If you are trying for Chem 200 or 202 go to discussion, even if you are trying for Chem 202. This is to make sure you don’t miss any assignments just in case you don’t get into Chem 202; you at least have done the work for Chem 200 and won’t miss any assignments. The discussion starts the week of January 23rd.

5. Go to one lab, starting the week of January 23rd. Make sure to know who your TA was as well as informing the lab coordinator you participated in a lab section. The email for this course is chem200@sdsu.edu

6. After you have gone to the first lab, which starts the week of January 23rd, work on the following assignments: Note: You only need to attend one lab period.

  1. Lab Safety Quiz — you have only one attempt and is due Friday, February 3rd at 11:59 PM. Found on OWL labs.

Note: The first lab you will be learning about lab safety. The second lab you will be working on how to write a lab notebook and prelab worksheet. Information on what is a lab notebook and prelab can be found in the Waitlister Lab Manual.

7. Keep up with the assignments and make sure you keep track of your TAs and keep the coordinator informed at chem200@sdsu.edu
